Hi! I'm Ömer, a freelance machine learning engineer based in the Amsterdam area.

I've spent the last 10+ years working on problems across trading, finance, AI products, and more. Before going independent I spent 4.5 years at IMC Trading, a high-frequency trading firm, applying ML and statistical modeling to trading systems and market data.

I've also competed in Kaggle competitions as a solo participant and won gold medals: 15th out of 4,400+ in Optiver's stock market prediction challenge, and 11th out of 2,000+ in an LLM prompt recovery competition.

Over the years I've worked across the full ML lifecycle: research, prototyping, architecture, deployment, monitoring. Currently I focus on the modeling and experimentation side: fine-tuning, simulation, evaluation, and LLM-driven products.
